Our Local Village
One of the true joys of staying at Le Mimosa is how close you are to everything. Step out through the front gates, take a right, and within a minute’s stroll you’ll find yourself in the heart of a charming French village that feels like it’s been lifted straight from a postcard.
This is the kind of place where mornings are made for walking down to pick up a warm, crusty baguette from the boulangerie, waving to friendly locals as you pass flower-filled windows and quiet stone lanes. You can stop at the café for a coffee, wander through the village square, or let the kids burn off some energy at the nearby playground. There’s a gentle rhythm here, one you’ll fall into without even trying.
The village itself is a quintessential example of French countryside life, centred around a lovely old church, with traditional grey stone buildings, leafy squares, and a warm, welcoming feel. The twice-weekly market is full of colour and character, offering everything from fresh produce and artisan cheese to seafood, flowers, and handmade goods.
There’s also a pharmacy, banks, a doctor’s surgery, and a selection of inviting bars and restaurants, all within walking distance of the villa. Whether you’re looking for a family-friendly brasserie, a romantic dinner spot, or a relaxed evening drink, you’ll find something to suit.

Weekly Street Markets
A holiday is not complete without a visit to one of the colourful markets that France is so famous for. The Vendée not only has traditional French markets selling local produce such as fruit, vegetables, cheese, meat, wine and local arts and crafts but also delightful speciality seafood.
A great little park area for many hours of fun on the large green area for a great game of football or rounder's just a few minutes away....!
Organsied Village Events
Colourful festivals in the village square, ranging from 'moules-frites' evenings to jazz concerts, fireworks displays, circus shows, and special children's events.
Throughout the summer months, the village hosts lively events in the square, think jazz concerts, moules-frites nights, fireworks, and circus shows plus special activities just for children. It’s a lovely way to experience French culture at its most vibrant, and it’s all right on your doorstep.
A few minutes further along, you’ll find the tennis courts (rackets available to borrow from us), and plenty of green space for games of football or rounders with the kids.
And of course, no French holiday is complete without exploring the region’s famous street markets. The Vendée is dotted with picturesque villages each hosting their own bustling market days:
Longeville-sur-Mer: Monday & Friday
Angles: Wednesday & Sunday
Jard-sur-Mer: Monday
La Tranche-sur-Mer: Saturday
Luçon: Wednesday & Saturday
L’Aiguillon-sur-Mer: Tuesday & Friday
Each market offers a feast for the senses, local wine, ripe fruit, crusty bread, handmade crafts, and the freshest seafood.
This part of France is all about slow living, rich flavours, and simple pleasures and your village experience at Le Mimosa captures it perfectly.
Please note - Markets are normally just in the mornings and are season-dependent
